is an exhibition of Maryam Espandi’s works which is not confined to one medium. In this sense, it could be regarded as a multimedia collection. However, rather than combining several media in one work, Espandi allocates a separate space to each medium and allows the force of each one to penetrate into the other and thereby allows translation of their logic into each other. For instance, rather than the familiar photographic logic of representation and clarity, there is an abstract and a drawing-like view in her photos. On the contrary, repetition of a more or less similar construction in drawings is a reminder of the desire for recording and clarifying. However, in all these works we witness an impossible attempt to develop an obscure image imprinted on artsist’s memory, an image that never becomes completely present and this incompleteness calls for going forward.
