This exhibition is a selection of portraits that Shahla Hosseini has drawn since the 1970s. Ranging from Art university's staff to her close friends, most of the sitters are the ones she has known or somehow was interested in. She seems to prefer drawing someone whose personality or manner is known to her. Just like her still-lifes in which we witness the unique presence of each object seized in a specific moment, here too, each portrait has given an uncanny quality that makes them unique and real. If you know these people in person, this feeling may increase, but these faces are represented so intimately and earnestly that even strangers could sense their real singularity. These people are real because these lines and colors had a real link to them.
